Yes, you can sit and eat there. Not sure the time of closing. Google their page
You should reserve if you want to dine at popular times as the venue does not have a lot of tables.
Yes you can! And I'm pretty sure it's R35
If I remember correctly, yes. You'll pay for corkage.
Freshly prepared flavorsome meals served with a smile.
Very, very small portions for the price. Dim sum were nothing special, rather bland. They were fried instead of steamed, I assume to give it some extra flavor they lacked so badly.
Absolutely the best waiters that I've ever come across and the food is out of this world. Highly rate this establishment
Saturday dinner reservation is a must! At least two or three couples came in to get seated but were turned away because the restaurant was fully booked. It's a small and quaint shop space with attention to detail to the setting, the clients (on the day we were here) and the meal presentation. The menu options were smaller than I expected but did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and since we were there to try their dim sums, they kept them coming. We certainly did not have a long wait. We opted for craft beer instead of cocktails and they were really good. There's definitely creativity in the preparation and a burst of flavors to savor and tickle your taste buds. We loved it and will visit again when we're back in Cape Town.
What an experience and the food is unrivaled. No better place to have great food, but make sure you reserve a table as it is always packed.
Amazing food....one of my favorite places!💯
Amazing experience! Everything was excellent and the food was exquisite! As a vegan they were able to accommodate me to the fullest. Staff was extremely friendly and organised.
Always delicious. Good value. Best tip: order two servings of dim sum followed by two pork buns you'll be rolling out.
Great food and service. Really enjoyed my meal and the ambiance.
A shining gem tucked away in the bustling heart of Cape Town, South China Dim Sum Bar is the kind of place that grabs you by the heartstrings and doesn't let go. The food is divine, and the ambiance is charming. I can't wait to visit again soon!
sad that they use only disposable plates and cutlery. would be nice if that could be changed!
Good vibe, friendly service and excellent dumplings. It's a casual place and it's great you can see the kitchen from where you sit.
Best Pork Buns we have ever had! Great place to go for a light meal or snack.
As usual fantastic dim sum - a firm favorite- deserving of #1 Dim Sum Spot
Great food. Couldn't help but place a second order of the veg pot sticker. And the red bean bun.... nuff said. Will definitely come back.
Very poor dim sum. Greasy. Extra charge for usually complimentary condiments like chili, black vinegar, soy. An underwhelming attempt at one of my favorite foods.
Food is amazing! I definitely underestimated the portion sizes. They are extremely filling.Space can get a little cramped when it's full, otherwise I love it!
Excellent very well prepared food, great service, book in advance.
Just awesome inventive dim sum. No frills. Great value. Excellent local beer too.
Noisy, vibey and oh so much fun with the most delicious dim sum. Yum. 😁
Dim Sum of my dreams! Delicious. Very well priced. Chilled vibes. Welcoming atmosphere. Wait staff let you take your time and don't bother you. Perfect level of lighting. Seating not the comfiest, but its unpretentious. Booking is essential for dinner.
Delicious, well priced dumplings and good service.
Delicious food! A must visit in Cape Town.
Iconic. Delish. Just the best.
One of my favourite restuarants in town. Fantastic food and great service.
Though the dim sum at this dim sum restaurant tastes OK, the flavours are far from authentic compared to the Cantonese restaurants in Hong Kong and around the world where there's a higher concentration of Cantonese people. This is further evident in the sauces and the generous use of sesame oil.The iced Vietnamese coffee isn't exactly the normal strong dripped coffee served with sweetened condensed milk over ice either.
Best Dim Sum in the country, so delicious that its addictive. Take your friends for a super chilled and relaxing and totally satisfying experience.
Been here for lunch and dinner and it is one of my favorite spots. The dim sum is absolutely delicious - and the service was excellent. We tried the beef pot stickers, lamb pot stickers, chicken wontons, pork siu mai, and braised beef short rib rice bowl. All were amazing. Five stars.
Hands down the best Dim Sum around. Great vibe great service- will definitely be back sooner rather than later
Best facking Dim Sum in CPT! Nice collection of Bruce Lee movie posters on the walls... The end.
Good service, great food. Vegetarian and vegan friendly.
How can you describe perfection? If you're curious or even if you know about DimSum or South China food...this will flip your taste buds on its head! Call ahead because they're often fully booked for dinner. Lunch vibe is mellow and kind. I love this food as a pure food kind-of-guy.
Great food, convenient location. Potstickers and char siu bao were both very tasty.
We were lucky to get a table before they closed for the festive season. Dim Sum was delicious. Best Vietnamese coffee! All the food was tasty and full of flavour, definitely worth a visit if you can get a table
I was disappointed with the small portions and then when I wanted to order more the owner told me the kitchen was closed but she continued to serve tourists. It wasn’t a good experience.
An adorable and casual little place with great variety in dishes. I would recommend ordering multiple dishes in a short time as they do not leave the kitchen together and the kitchen closes early. Some people at your table might finish their food before yours arrives. The only recommendation I would give would be trying to co-ordinate the dishes together better. The portions are quite small so you will need to eat at least four dishes to feel full. The cocktails were great, although not presented particularly well. There's lots of room for improvement here.
The most disappointing meal we had in South Africa. The smallest portions I’ve ever seen (even for Dim Sum), bland dumplings served on soggy paper plates. Any dumpling bought from the supermarket would taste the same if not better than the dumplings they have here. The noodle was so bland also it tasted like salt, water and noodles. The place was also very cramped, I was sitting back to back with other diners and had no space for my coat or bag. Overall, we thought the price would make up for the experience, but the bill added up very quickly. Would not recommend.
Amazing! I’ve been to Taiwan (South China) and the food is identical to the very best dim sum and noodles I had over there. Each little dumpling is prepared with the utmost care. The daily special noodles was so flavorful. The setting inside is so cute and cozy too. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!
The food was spectacular, the service was amazing. My wife and I literally had atleast one of EVERYTHING on the menu, and then ordered some more. Highly highly recommended. Book in advance
Great selection of well-priced dim sum and local craft beer. Situated on the busy Long Street, booking is essential. The food was amazing and the service was prompt. The setting is rustic. Would definitely go back.
Unpretentious, small and intimate, and not necessarily easy to find, but when you do it will be soooo worth it. Not fine dining, it is relaxed and understated. Deeeeelicious food and friendly staff! Would suggest booking if you can.
The service at this restaurant is bad to the point of being disrespectful. Waiting staff look you in they eye and ignore you. We waited 15 minutes to be seated at our reserved, empty table right next to us. When drinks were ordered waitresses looked at us, then the drinks, smirked and walked away. All waitresses refused even the tiniest smile and glared with utter disdain. Drinks never appeared. When offering constructive criticism at the end of the evening I was rudely told ‘this is Africa’. I take great offense at this as a) I am African and b) I spend significant time in distinctly unglamorous parts of Africa and have always received excellent, smiling, fast service. This was a thoroughly unpleasant dining experience. Dim sum was nothing to get excited about.
I had a wonderful evening, the pot stickers and bao were delicious. It's small and cosy - - the perfect atmosphere. I am giving 4/5 because I was disappointed to see that they were using paper plates and disposable chop sticks. For a restaurant which sees a high turnover of customers it's wasteful and bad for the environment. A small change to washable plates and metal cutlery would booste this score back up to 5/5.Thanks for a great evening :)
Found the place suggested by people I met today and it’s really good food, friendly and attentive service and very reasonably priced. Great atmosphere and I had a fantastic green tea mojito. Would highly recommend!
Wonderful experience. Booking is essential. The staff were very accommodating (even though I booked for 3 less people). Food is fantastic. A must for dumpling and boa lovers
I always enjoy The Dim Sum Bar.. Never disappoints!
This is a clasic tipical chinese resturant hidden away from the main stream restuarants in long street capetown, the food is good.
Great dim sum and excellent service.
Great tasty little snack joint for a quick bite to eat. Friendly staff
